The Pregnancy Center is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian organization that helps men and women with life’s questions, choices and consequences of sexual activity.
We specifically focus on unplanned pregnancies. We offer a multitude of options to our clients along with a roadmap of referrals to meet specific assessed needs.

Our Board Members
Eleanor Virkler, Board Chair

Eleanor was born and raised in New Jersey, second to youngest of four children. Her interest in teaching began when she was in elementary school. Eleanor received my BA from Montclair State College, MA from Jersey City State College, then taught high school math for 28 years in NJ and 1 year in CA. When her husband, Jim, and Eleanor retired from their teaching careers, they moved to the midwest to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They now live in the beautiful Galena Territory, IL. They have two children and two grandchildren. Eleanor became a volunteer counselor at The Pregnancy Center in Dubuque in 2001, including 4 years of Abstinence Counselling in Dubuque Middle Schools.
Dr. Rick Dodds, Vice President

Dr. Dodds was born and raised in Dubuque. He graduated from Wahlert High School, and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa and also at Loras College. He earned his doctorate degree in Chiropractic Medicine at Palmer College of Chiropractic. Dr. Dodds has been practicing Chiropractic in Dubuque for 23 years.
Shawn Bromen

Shawn is married, has two teenage children and is very actively involved as a member and volunteer at Dubuque Community Church. She is a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor and works in the Wealth Management Group at Dubuque Bank and Trust where she has been employed 14 years.
Jerry Beacom, Treasurer

Jerry is an agent with Farm Bureau Financial Services in Dubuque. He has 14+ years of experience in financial services and enjoys helping people with their insurance and investment needs. He is a member of Hope Chuch and looks forward to serving with the Clarity Clinic to promote life honoring options and solutions to women in the area.
Emily Smith, Secretary
Emily is a graduate of Emmaus Bible College and currently lives with her husband, Mark, and daughter, Lillie Mae, here in Dubuque. Emily has been involved with The Clarity Clinic since 2004. She served as the Client Services Director and Abstinence Director until 2006.
