Q: What are some pregnancy symptoms?

A: Initial pregnancy symptoms include a missed period, swollen or sore
breasts, nasea or vomiting, tiredness or diziness. Not everyone is the
same, some experience a lot of vomiting and some never get sick at all. If
you have missed your period and you think you might get pregnant, please take a test!

Q: Is it true that you can get pregnant the first time you have sex?

A: Yes! You can get pregnant the first time you have sex. You must know though that the time in the month that you are having sex is what determinesthat. There are only a few days a month that you are actually fertile. If you have intercourse during those days, or a little time before, you leave the chance of pregnancy occuring. In order to find out when you are most fertile you need to look into fertililty. There are many websites and books that help you learn more about your bodie's fertility by monitoring your period, body temperature as well as your mucus. It really is an amazing thing, I am just learning about it myself!

Q: How are STD's spread?

A: STD's are spread through skin to skin contact, vaginal, anal and
oral sex. When I say skin to skin contact, I don't mean just walking up to
someone and touching them! You must come into contact with an infected
person's infected area in order to contract an STD. HPV (Human Papilloma
Virus) and Herpes are spread through skin to skin contact, which means it
doesn't even take having sexual intercourse! Other STDs like Chlamydia,
Gonorrhea, Syphilis, HIV, Hepatitis B (just to name a few of the 30-50
differenst STDs) all are spread through bodily fluid like blood, urine,
semen, and vaginal fluid and these are exchanged during oral, vaginal and
anal sex.

Q: Why does a pregnancy test come out inconclusive?

A: Sometimes tests do not take correctly. It could be that your HCG levels (the hormone your body produces when you are pregnant) are way down or it was a faulty test. Are you two weeks late? A test will read at its best when you are two weeks past your period due date. If your hormone levels are down, they will replenish within a few days. You can make an appointment with us if you live the the Dubuque area to come in and do a pregnancy test otherwise I can get you hooked up with one in your area. The tests are free to you. I would take another test. If that doesn't work contact your medical doctor, some ladies need blood tests and urine tests just don't work for them. I hope this works. Feel free to contact me with any further questions.
